I bought this customed killer machine from HP website. I had it customized till the max. Having 200GB Hard disk, 4 GB of RAM, 384 MB of Nvdia Graphics, Intel Duo 2.0 GHz,Windows Vista Ultimate, 12 cell n 6 cell battery and being priced at US$2200, I feel that this is an awesome deal.
It's graphics are far more superior than any earlier machines i had. I even tried it on Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. It ran extremly smoothly with max graphic selection.
I must say that i never had ANY computer hang or stall. Even while i was transferring data, i could do many many other things.
I must say that HP had done an extremely excellent job. The support teams responded very quickly and always cleared any doubts i had.
I also had the flexibility of choosing a 6 cell or 12 cell (extended battery), I bought both though. Each for a suitable situation. 6 cell for mobility and
the 12 cell for gaming and long trips.
On a fully charged 6 cell battery, It lasts up to 2.5 hrs for me. Whereas for the 12 cell battery, it lasts up to 5 hrs on a single go!
As usual, HP speakers from Altec Lansing are totally awesome. It seems like a sub woofer n amplifier built in.
As for security, it has finger printing capability. No more need for anymore long and forgettable passwords. This one works very fast and reduces work load. No special button pressing required. When it is locked, Just a slight slide through will allow access to owner. You can also allow several fingerprints to have access to the computer and set limitations to these sub-users.
Only problem is it's kinda pricey when upgraded to max. Still i feel it was worth it and would recommend it to whoever who has spare cash and looking for a worth it laptop!

Wonderful laptop. Windows Vista is great. Only thing that I dislike about it is the fact that it is a bit heavy. That makes it difficult for me to just grab and bring it to class with me. But overall its a great laptop. Very fast! Love it overall despite the fact that its not light weight enough for me.:(

I see the price has dropped since I purchased last year. Even a better value! No problems with the OS just wish i didnt have to eliminate vista features to increase processor speed. Heavy laptop and a big ass clunky battery that i didnt realize prior to buying. Jacks the back of the laptop up like a hotrod.

Pros: cheap, cool product design, HD widescreen
Cons: processor a little slow, big clunky battery, heavy, screen not the brightest

hp quickplay does not display my webcam and it is due to me getting an 8400gm nvidia graphics card. quickplay doesnt support that and niether does the webcam but it doesn't matter. i unistalled quickplay cus i don't use it, its slow as hell, and i don't use a webcam (im not a stripper). eveyrthign else is flawless. this laptop looks great both open/closed and also works magnificently.

I recommend this for the business user for great value compared to other laptops on the market not including IBooks. Reason: Its low cost with all the features, 2G ram, 200G HD. I bought the TX1000 Tablet model thinking it would be great to get the latest but WOW it was such a CLUNKER. I believe this is due to the VISTA software being ahead of the exisiting software. The HP support in Pakistan couldnt even figure it out and actually told be to send it back to HP to get my JUST DELIVERED, BRAND NEW TABLET back to HP Repair Center! NO WAY DUDES. It goes back to the STORE! So I settled for this model and am happy without the tablet features. And I dont miss it. Best PC laptop. You dont have to have the latest sitting at Narita! Oh, and HP you gotta send a FIX for the QuickPlay. Its sucks!

All in all this is a great piece of machine. I just wonder why in the Description&Details tab it says in one section that it is equipped with Nvidia graphics card while my HP DV6500t has an Intel graphics card. Processor also says its 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo while mine has 2.0GHz on it. What i really love about HP is its ergonomic design and functionality. USB and other ports are placed neatly on its sides. I hope they did that also with the speakers coz if you close the monitor you cant hear properly the sounds.Battery life is also weak. Anyway, my friend bought a Dell Inspiron which is $250 greater than my HP but it has the worse feature of all the latest laptop in the market. So i recommend HP Pavillion dv6500t.

Pros: It got the latest package in laptops especially the sounds. Sleek looking machine. An entertainment laptop.
Cons: If you prepare XP among other OS then think again coz Vista will definitely makes you sick with its numerous features. I also hate the touch sensitve Quickplay buttons.

I don't really know if the problem is the hardware, or the worst OS on earth called Windows Vista.
Though the specs of this machine are high, still the performance is extremely slow and lots of freezing occurs.
My advice to everyone is not to buy this useless machine and get a Mac instead.
What I've noticed is that a Mac with lower specs would work a lot better & faster that this one or any Vista pc!!
